  1. On CAPITOL Record's LP entitled NAT KING COLE SINGS/GEORGE SHEARING PLAYS (SM ), the piano/vocalist master of trio cocktail music steps from behind the keys to accompany Shearing's quintet and Ralph Carmichael's string choir. It was a first and only collaboration, one that produced some impressive results/5(5).

  5. Feb 21,  · I picked up the remastered version of " Nat Sings and George Shearing Plays" this past summer. It is now a Capitol Jazz reissue. Ron McMaster was the Engineer. I enjoy this CD very much. The songs are great and the mastering job is very good. My ears are pretty picky, right Martin. Ron used Sony's Super-Bit Mapping process for the A/D conversion.

  8. Jun 24,  · @Gordo - See: Nat King Cole/George Shearing LP It was not a separate EP, but a separate LP, packaged (crammed into?) the same sleeve as the main album. The bonus tracks are just tracks from other albums. By the way, because the vocal is in the left channel on this album, I pretty strongly advocate for getting: 1.) a clean MONO copy and 2.).
  9. Cole is a crooner here, singing mellow, usually romantic ballads, and often sliding down the scale to his lower notes. Shearing plays quiet, inventive, and "tinkly" accompaniments in the background, without ever stepping on Cole's notes.5/5(7).
